Community is the Medicine

We need each other to heal. Wellness isn’t something that happens overnight. In fact, it’s often a gradual process that comes in waves. For us, health isn’t the absence of sickness or disease. Health is an active approach to well-being. Bodies need each other to heal. We do not heal in isolation.

Isolation is Bad for Our Health

In fact, research has shown that isolation is “the latest public health epidemic.” According to the U.S. surgeon general, “Widespread loneliness in the U.S. poses health risks as deadly as smoking up to 15 cigarettes daily, costing the health industry billions of dollars annually.” (PBS.org) Communities are the root networks that nurture our growth. We all have bodies. Our bodies’ interconnectedness refers to the same things, regardless of size, shape, colors, or core beliefs.

Love is the Soil

We need a deep understanding of each other through love; that’s the soil. Then, we need sunlight; those friendships that grow out of the good connections we have made. We need nourishment; those are the activities that bring us joy. The connection comes when we focus our attention on our intentions. Classes like our Women’s Circles and Soul Travel excursions help foster these deep connections. Through this active approach, we build meaningful exchanges that help build a strong and joyful community.  We are connecting the invisible to the visible, making the intangible tangible through community. This is why relationships, with our bodies and our communities, are the key to wellness.
